作品名：草（くさ）
楷書／原画一点物
派手さはない。
だが、決して欠かすことのできない存在がある。
「風」「花」「華」「山」
一文字で様になりやすい言葉は多い。
では、「草」はどうだろうか。
草原に揺れる草、枯れゆく葉、
生け花や庭で脇役とされがちな緑。
しかし草は、常にそこにあり、
花を引き立て、風景に奥行きを与え、
季節の移ろいを最も正直に語る存在だ。
ほとんど墨が残っていないほどの薄墨を用い、
可読性を保った楷書で「草」を書き切った。
淡く、消え入りそうでありながら、
確かにそこに在る。
紙は、あえて整えず。
切らずに、破るという選択をした。
無造作に見えるその輪郭が、
人工と自然の境界を曖昧にし、
作品に呼吸を与えている。
表具は浮かしによる構成。
余白と間が生まれ、
一文字が空間に静かに立ち上がる。
使用した布は、
絣作家・中本扶佐子氏によるもの。
繊細な手仕事と草木染めの風合いが、
「草」という一文字と響き合い、
この作品にしかない佇まいをつくっている。
短い時間では辿り着けない線だけが、
この一枚に残っている。
主張しすぎない。
だが、目に入るたびに心に残る。
静かな強さを、空間に。
これは「飾る書」ではなく、
共に時を過ごす書。

Title: Grass
Regular Script / Original Painting, One-of-a-Kind
It lacks flashiness.
Yet, there exists something utterly indispensable.
「Wind」,「Flower」, 「Beauty」, 「Mountain」
Many words look elegant with just one character.
But what about 「Grass」?
Grass swaying in the meadow, withering leaves,
The green often relegated to supporting roles in flower arrangements or gardens.
Yet grass is always there,
Enhancing flowers, giving depth to landscapes,
The most honest witness to the changing seasons.
Using ink so faint it barely leaves a trace,
I wrote the character 「草」 in legible regular script.
Pale, almost vanishing,
yet undeniably present.
The paper was deliberately left untrimmed.
I chose to tear it, not cut it.
Its seemingly careless outline
blurs the boundary between artificial and natural,
breathing life into the work.
The mounting employs a raised composition.
White space and intervals emerge,
allowing a single character to rise quietly within the space.
The fabric used
is by kasuri artist Fusako Nakamoto.
The delicate handiwork and the texture of plant-dyed fabric
resonate with the single character 「草」,
creating a presence unique to this work.
Only lines that cannot be reached in a short time
remain on this single piece.
It does not assert itself too strongly.
Yet, each time it meets the eye, it lingers in the heart.
Quiet strength, within the space.
This is not 「calligraphy for display」,
but calligraphy to spend time with.
